Tangipahoa Parish Library New Main Branch
A local architect approached our office in 2010 to provide site planning input, and landscape design for a new Library Main Branch facility in Amite, Louisiana. We have since provided designs for pedestrian plazas and landscape improvements. We were also retained to provide conceptual and detailed design for an innovative "Rain Garden" intended to be a demonstration area showcasing a local bog/swamp ecosystem. This demonstration garden was conceived as a method of educating the public about issues such as responsible stormwater management, and the effects of runoff filtration via bioswale cultivation. The cistern and Rain Garden provide rainwater detention during wet weather, and are located just outside the children's area for their enjoyment.
