the Olivia residence
After previously preparing a Master-Plan for this property, Dufreche-Perkins and Associates were asked to design a contemporary pool for this residence. A negative-edge pool was suggested by the site’s rolling topography, allowing a feature often precluded by our flat local landscape. Stonework and strong, simple lines created a striking effect juxtaposed against the property’s natural character. Preliminary design sketches convinced the owner to follow the complex design strategy, which integrated changes in elevation in the pool decking with a large surge tank to accommodate bather loads in the pool and its associated negative-edge raised spa. Stone and water are the main elements in this design, with the planting design providing accents where appropriate.
