This design presented the conflicting issues of requiring barrier-free access to the home and pool area, and requiring the home to be set substantially higher than the roadway or adjacent houses. Our firm responded with a design incorporating retaining walls, a carefully arranged grading plan, and a comprehensive fencing plan surrounding swimming pool featuring barrier-free access. Ornamental brickwork and iron fencing were employed to enclose an entry courtyard, while the back yard was fenced in such a way as to preserve views into the natural areas behind the house.
